Klaudia Toci
Age 16 – Albania
My name is Klaudia and I was born in Tirana, Albania. At the age of 3 my family decided to move to Italy where I live today in Treviso (a city near Venice).
I really enjoy life here but I’m still connected to my homeland. It was very hard to leave and start a new life in a foreign country far from my relatives. I made a lot of friends in Italy but i t was still hard for me, as some kids didn’t appreciate me because of my origins and that hurt. It’s sad to live in a world where even kids at the playground make a difference among each other, instead of playing together and spending time having fun without any prejudice. That’s why we need to do something in order to change this situation; we have the power to make a better world because we are young and the future depends on us.
I attend the Second Level College of Science “Leonardo da Vinci” and it was a teacher of mine, who during a lesson introduced us to the Rete Progetto Pace and since I’m very helpful and I’m always happy to do something for someone who’s in need, I joined the team.
I was one of the presenters of the Youth Festival “Media Needs Talents” in Lignano Sabbiadoro (UD-Italy). The topic of that international contest was “Cyber bullying prevention and positive use of new media” and the participants had to prepare an artistic performance related to that theme. I also took part in a journey to Macedonia and Montenegro, countries which are still paying the consequences of the war in former Yugoslavia in the 90’s. Here we delivered some money, collected by the student of some Treviso’s high schools, to help people who are unfortunately less lucky than us. It was a great honor for me to be involved in those activities in fact we have met a lot of people and helped them with simply things; at the same time we did also some twinnings with local schools and now we are looking forward to go on with this cooperation and intercultural exchange.
My commitment in Rete Progetto Pace is my way to contribute for a more peaceful world.
